Sydney 1-0 Wellington Phoenix: Match Report

Wellington Phoenix’s hopes of making the A-League finals round took a massive blow tonight as they succumbed to a frustrating loss at Sydney Football Ground this evening.

Despite dominating for much of the match, they conceded a goal to Kofi Danning late on after Sydney had gained the numerical advantage following a soft but silly dismissal of Troy Hearfield, who reacted to being fouled by Alex Brosque with the slightest of headbutts.

The ‘Nix now find themselves three points behind the Mariners in fourth place, and have two tough matches to play, as do the Central Coast, but with a three point cushion, it is the Australian’s who will be more confident of competing in the play-offs.
